New in the delivery game is a company called Ease Up. They have a similar set up as Uber Eats and PostMates. The difference is that they work with medical marijuana dispensaries instead of restaurants. They say you can earn AT LEAST $16 an hour plus you get to keep all tips. This company has been staging their business for a little over a year now and is finally moving forward with their ideas.
What do you need to become a driver for Ease?
You need to be atleast 21
Have a current medical marijuana recommendation
Have a Newer Android or Iphone to use the app.
How is it different then Uber and PostMates?
Here is their statement:
This is not an offer or solicitation to work for Eaze; the job described is to work for a medical marijuana dispensary that uses Eaze technology.
This means that you are not an independent contractor and will actually be on payroll with dispensaries.
To me this is all kind of iffie and I don’t know if it’s a good thing to get into.
A lot of these dispensaries in orange county have a short life span. They usually operate until they get shut down. I will admit that there have been a few that have been open and stayed open for over 5 years but it’s a small handful. So how reliable of a source of income can this be?
The Sign Up Process
I was in the middle of signing up to drive with ease but at the point of giving my information (Mostly Social Security Number) I started having mixed feelings.
Since I’m not going to be employed with ease then who is actually viewing and has access to all of my identifiable information. I don’t want random dispensaries seeing my social security number and what not. A better way to go about it is to have that be the last information given once you are accepted by a dispensary. I really want to get into this so bad because there is a huge demand for medical marijuana, I’m just not so sure about the approach they are taking with it though.
I sent the company a message the other day asking for more in depth information about how my information would be used and who will have access to it. That will be the determining factor in wether I join or not. I’ve wanted to be a dispensary driver for quite some time now but they are usually jerks and screen people based on how they look. Complete discrimination, but in a partially legal business who really expects them to have equal opportunity employment anyways.
I’ll update this post once I hear back from them or if I do.
