To CDL or Not To CDL?

I started this blog as a life changing thing for me. For years I’ve settled for crappy jobs because I didn’t want to worryabout random drug testing. No I’m not a crack addict or meth head at all. I just smoke marijuana which has been legal in California for medical purposes for over 10 years now. I suffer from depression and it has helped me get through a lot of tough situations but now I’m at a point in my life where I feel stronger and I hope to make it on my own because you just can’t make good money if you smoke and good money is what I need. I want to buy my daughter a car next year when she turns 16, so I went and got my cdl permit and am planning on getting into truck driving. With random dot drug testing there is no room to play at all so it’s quit for good or keep settling for less.

Self Employment?

I’m trying these delivery services hoping that I can make enough extra income to put me in the same earning bracket as a truck driver. If I can be successful then I don’t have to worry about these terrible laws that allow people to drink but not smoke marijuana. Of course there are the ignorant that will say you shouldn’t be a driver if you smoke, while at the same time my driving record is perfect and I easily outperform non smokers on the road. I’m one of the safest drivers you will meet and my cdl training added to the knowledge quite a bit.

Who knows, if it becomes 100% legal than things will be forced to change. You can’t keep putting people down for something that isn’t bad. After all a majority of Americans are in favor of legalization but there are still the ones that live in the past and also the big pharmaceutical companies that have a lot to lose. Honestly I haven’t been to a doctor in over 10 years, I just don’t get sick and I refuse to touch prescription drugs pushed by legal drug dealers. In my case it’s just not necessary. I’m not a scientist so I can’t say that marijuana boosted my immune system but the fact is that there is some reason why everyone in my house can be sick and I never get sick.

At my job they give free flu shots and they keep asking me to take one. My reply is, have I ever called out sick? It’s just not necessary. For me atleast.

So I’m giving this a shot as well as some more new companies that just happened to pop up. That’s the beauty of living in the LA and OC area. New things have a tendency to start here. Still waiting on Amazon flex though. I feel that will be the big one and a more secure source of income so hopefully they start operating in my area soon.

So for now I’m still looking for a way out and am going to get my commercial drivers license anyway because if I lose then that is always a reasonable option.

Always have a back up plan

I have a end of year goal which I’ll talk about in my next post.
